Build More Effective and Successful Security Strategies
About this event
Singapore has seen a 25% climb in scams and cybercrimes in 2022 with 33,669 reported cases, according to the Singapore Police Force. The report that phishing scam remains the largest form of scam type accounting for 22.4% of scams in 2022, up 41.3% from 2021.
Also notable is that messaging platforms (7,599) have overtaking social media (7,539) as the preferred approach for contacting victims. While the variance is small, it should be noted that in 2021, 6,095 were scammed via social compared as compared to 5,095 via messaging platforms.
Among 80% of 500 cybersecurity decision-makers that participated in a Coleman Parkes survey in 2022 estimated that losses due to security breaches accounted for up to 10% of their organisation’s revenues.
Some 64% said their current security tools did not support their security operations team to function with maximum efficiency, while 35% confessed to having blindspots in their protection. Another 90% said their cybersecurity infrastructure was “siloed”.
Proofpoint’s latest 2023 State of Phish report noted that among several cyber threat types, phishing top the list in Singapore at 85% compared to ransomware (78%), business email compromise (72%), and supply chain (68%).
