Outsmarting Scams: Behavioural Intelligence in Action
ABOUT THIS EVENT
Asia-Pacific, including Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, is experiencing an unprecedented surge in financial scams and fraud in 2025.
Hong Kong: According to the Hong Kong Police Force’s 2024 annual report, financial crime cases reached record highs, with over 44,000 scam reports and losses exceeding HK$9 billion—a 42% increase year-on-year.
Singapore: The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) flagged a sharp rise in digital banking and investment scams, prompting new regulatory requirements for real-time fraud monitoring and customer protection.
Australia: The Australia Competition and Consumer Commission’s Scamwatch reported over AUD 3.1 billion lost to scams in 2024, while Japan’s National Police Agency and South Korea’s FSC have both issued warnings on the growth of APP fraud and phishing attacks.
Malaysia: Bank Negara’s 2025 review revealed that authorised push payment (APP) fraud and social engineering scams now account for over 60% of all reported financial crime losses.
Indonesia’s OJK and Thailand’s AMLO have issued urgent advisories as cross-border scam syndicates exploit mobile-first consumers.
India: The Reserve Bank of India has mandated stricter digital payment controls after a 38% year-on-year rise in reported fraud cases.
