EXECUTIVE ROUNDTABLE

The Finance Evolution: From Legacy to Leadership

The Finance Evolution: From Legacy to Leadership

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Malaysia’s finance function is at a pivotal moment. Driven by digitalisation mandates and regional integration, the demand for FP&A and Treasury to act as strategic partners has never been higher. Yet, professionals face distinct, systemic hurdles in a dynamic economic landscape.

The latest global benchmarks from the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) confirm that these challenges are both universal and acutely felt here. For instance, cash or liquidity forecasting is the top challenge for 62% of treasury teams globally, a pain point magnified by Malaysia’s export-driven volatility (2025 AFP Treasury Benchmarking Survey). Compounding this, the reliance on legacy tools is stark, with 96% of FP&A professionals globally still using spreadsheets for planning, even as 61% cite unreliable data as their primary barrier to tech success (source: 2025 AFP FP&A Benchmarking Survey).

This data dilemma resonates deeply with Malaysian finance leaders. In fact, at the recent 5th Annual FutureCFO Conference in Kuala Lumpur, data quality issues were cited by 43% of delegates as a key concern. Bridging this gap is urgent, as 83% of global FP&A leaders now value technology and data skills as highly as core finance competencies (source: 2025 AFP FP&A Benchmarking Survey). For Malaysia’s rapidly digitising economy, this underscores a critical need for deliberate upskilling to retain top talent and maintain competitive advantage.

This 11 Dec, FutureCFO, in partnership with the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), invites you to an exclusive roundtable discussion designed to address these key issues, including:

Ms Francine Hope-Pressley, CFO of AFP, will be on hand to share her observations on the global finance practice and what practitioners in Malaysia can draw upon.
