Gareth Russell is the Field Chief Technology Officer, Security for Asia Pacific (APAC) at
Commvault. In this role, he is responsible for applying Commvault’s solutions to high-level
organisational challenges across cyber strategy, risk management, cyber resilience, and digital
transformation.
Gareth has wide experience in both public and private sectors across the Asia-Pacific region,
bringing his deep knowledge of cyber risk and security to help counter sophisticated
organisational cyber threats. Having worked in a range of leadership roles including
government agencies, he has hands-on experience in overcoming a wide variety of
cybersecurity and operational challenges while transforming organisational culture with a
focus on cyber resiliency.
Prior to joining Commvault, Gareth was with Standard Chartered Bank where he was Global
Head of Identity Access Management.
Gareth holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from James Cook University,
including certifications from ISC2 (CISSP), and certificates from Harvard Business School.
