Sie Liang Lau is Head of Cyber & Casualty at Samsung Reinsurance in Singapore, where he leads the development of Samsung Re’s global cyber and casualty portfolios across treaty and facultative business. He is also responsible for establishing Samsung Re’s Cyber Centre of Excellence in partnership with Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance.
A qualified actuary (Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries) with over 20 years of international experience, Sie’s career spans pricing, underwriting, portfolio management, and capital provision across Asia Pacific and the London market. Prior to Samsung Re, he was Head of Cyber, Asia Pacific at Gallagher Re, where he developed and executed a multi-market cyber reinsurance strategy across 14 countries. Before that, he spent over a decade at SCOR in London and Singapore, most recently as Head of Lloyd’s Capital Provision & Cyber, with end-to-end accountability for a EUR 855 million multi-line P&C portfolio.
Sie is recognised for combining disciplined underwriting judgement with an entrepreneurial growth mindset, and for his ability to engage brokers, cedants, regulators, and senior stakeholders across complex markets. He is a regular speaker on cyber insurance, reinsurance strategy, and the development of sustainable cyber risk transfer solutions in Asia.
