Niels Maerkedahl is the CIO for Business Banking and CTO for Digital Platforms at Standard Chartered Bank . Niels joined SCB in March 2021 from McKinsey where he led the technology consulting practice in South East Asia and the Banking Technology Transformation service line in Asia. In his role at Standard Chartered Bank, Niels is leading the Open Banking & Partnership area with focus on establishing the required technology platforms to enable partnerships as well as banking-as-a-service capabilities to grow the business across markets. In addition, Niels leads the overall People Strategy for the Consumer, Private and Business Banking Technology & Innovation function. As a part of this, Niels oversee engineering culture transformation to become a technology-first driven institution.
