EVENT OVERVIEW
Cxociety Research’s 2026 survey of 257 IT leaders across Asia found that data quality and integration remain the biggest barriers to AI adoption, while AI agents remain in the early stages of enterprise deployment. Accelerating time-to-value from technology investments is expected to be the top priority for IT leaders in 2027.
How are these trends reflected in the Philippines? AI adoption has reached 32% of Philippine businesses, yet the majority remain stuck in basic use cases. Data quality and integration remain the primary barriers. Agentic AI is still in early stage. Talent gaps are acute: only 17% of organisations can recruit and retain enough AI-skilled people. IT budgets are rising only marginally while AI spend ambitions surge. Boards will no longer accept pilots without proof points.
The Philippines’ US$34.4 billion AI+ Infrastructure Masterplan (PAIIM) 2026–2033 is not a distant policy document — it is the operating context for every Filipino CIO decision in 2027. Enterprise leaders who treat it as optional will lag; those who translate national ambition into governed, cost-accountable, sovereign-ready AI capabilities will set the pace.
The winning formula for 2027 is clear: redesign business processes around agent capabilities rather than simply digitising legacy workflows; enforce governed control planes and identity for every agent; modernise only what creates measurable value; institute FinOps discipline for inference and multi-agent costs; and treat resilience and sovereignty as non-negotiable design principles.
Themed “Reimagining Resilience”, the FutureCIO Philippines Conference 2027, part of ASEAN’s largest and longest-running CIO conference series, aims to equip Filipino IT leaders with the practical frameworks, peer diagnostics and strategic playbooks required to close the gap between AI ambition and IT reality.
Key issues shaping this year’s agenda include:
- Bridging the business–IT accountability gap with shared metrics and 90-day proof points
- Scaling agentic AI under governed control planes and non-human identity
- FinOps for agentic AI
- Architecting sovereign AI foundations aligned to PAIIM and data-residency rules

Panel Discussion: Bridging the Widening Business-Technology Disconnect in 2027
As Filipino enterprises accelerate AI adoption, the disconnect between business expectations and technology outcomes is becoming harder to ignore. Filipino CIOs who master diagnostics and shared-accountability mechanisms will stop being the bottleneck and become the force that converts business ambition into executable roadmaps and measurable value. Every technology or AI investment should be tied to a clear 90-day proof point, with early intervention or termination for initiatives that fail to demonstrate meaningful progress.
- Quantifying business-technology misalignments
- Applying metrics and diagnostic frameworks to assess alignment between business priorities, technology investments, and business outcomes
- Translating business objectives into value-realisation plans with shared ownership
- Establishing kill criteria for “zombie AI” and 90-day proof-point discipline
