Prof. Juergen Rahmel holds a PhD in computer science (Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks) and an MBA in International Management. He started his career with Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, Germany, and has worked in various IT management positions of different banks. Past roles include being Head of IT for HSBC Germany, Research Director AI for the HSBC-ASTRI Lab in HK, Chief Digital Officer for HSBC Germany and he currently serves as Director for Applied AI Research at HSBC.
Juergen is Adjunct Professor at HKUST and a part-time lecturer at HKU. He teaches a variety of subjects like Securities Transaction Banking, eFinancial Services, Banking in Web 3.0, Generative AI for Financial Services as well as Ethics and Governance for AI.
